Physics Library Moves Back into DeMeritt Hall

by Heather Gagnon

During the week of July 28-August 1, you can expect the Physics Library to be closed. Why? BECAUSE… YAY!!… WE’RE MOVING BACK INTO DEMERITT HALL!!!

Our fabulous “book movers,” BiblioTech, will arrive on campus to begin measuring and planning for the move on July 14. On July 28, they’ll actually begin moving everything into our new space.

The last 14 months spent in Nesmith Hall have been interesting, but we’re definitely ready to be back in DeMeritt in a brand new library. As of Wednesday 7/2, the lights and carpeting were nicely installed. The tracks for our compact shelving are in, and everything seems to be shaping up quite nicely! We were told our shelving will be installed the week of July 7. Our new home will have better support for traditional library services, plus new-fangled (for us) features like wireless access, collaborative space, and displays. SO EXCITING!!!

We certainly do hope you will all come by to see our new space. If you are interested in a tour during construction, you can contact Emily P. Otherwise, feel free to drop in anytime once we open (August 4). Also, we will be hosting an open house in our new space – likely in September – so make sure you’re on the look-out for the invite!
